Description

Maybe the easiest shore entry in the PNW, the parking and shore entry alone make it a great dive. The remains of the pier is a great area for new divers to explore. At the last pylon, take a 290 degree heading and after approx. 100ft you will find the pipeline that runs almost due North to a depth of 100ft. Under the pipeline look for GPOs. At 90 ft you will see a large number of anemones and schools of rockfish. funny pictures funny images funny photos

Special Restrictions:

PT Whitney is now posted, you'll need a vehicle use permit or risk a $66 fine. Permits are included with combo fishing lic, or $14 per year, beginning 4/1 and ending 3/31. Permits are available at any DFW vendor

How to get there:

A large parking area is just past the Washington State Shellfish Lab.

The pylons aren't visible from the surface. I found the pipeline because I went with someone else who knew how to find it. It is visible at 25 feet depth and ended at 100 feet. Amazing life along the pipeline - 3 GPO's, many painted and kelp greenlings, many rockfish, black-eyed gobys, plumose anemone, and northern kelp crabs. I found the pipeline with less help the second time - aim for the house on the hill across the water and descend to 20-25 feet - this will put you in a debris field with structure. Head leftward and a little deeper and you will run into the pipeline.
