South Puget Sound
Aquatic Life: 5
Debris, Large Rock Formation / Pinnacle
The Itsami Ledge is a knoll that rises up mid water to within about 40' of the surface and drops to over 70ft. Cement has been added to the area creating a natural/artificial reef area. It is subject to currents which brings additional life to the reef. The site is popular for fishing lingcod and offers a great south Puget Sound sightseeing dive when the visibility is good.
Beware of boat traffic and currents. Be sure to use a dive flag and a live boat is recommended.
How to get there:
The Itsami Reef is located in the middle of the channel in the South Puget Sound near Olympia, just north of Henderson Inlet and west of Johnson Point. The area is known as Dana Passage. You can easily locate the pinnacle with a depth finder. It reaches to only 40' from the surface.
