Dash Point State Park
Federal Way, WA
Access: Easy Shore Entry
Amenities: Restrooms, Showers
Aquatic Life: 5
Dash Point State Park site is incredibly shallow for great distances from shore making it a good spot to learn to snorkel or get back in the water, but can be boring for SCUBA divers. There are no reef structures to see but there is a massive field of sand dollars to the right as you enter the water and plenty of sun stars roaming the bottom. This site is a nice location for family picnics and for kids to play in the water. It even appears to warm up a bit in the summer due to the long shallow beach.
Scuba Diver’s will have a hard time attaining any significant depth at this location. You can try the nearby Dash Point Pier for a steeper bottom.
How to get there:
From I-5, take the 320th St exit and go west to 47th Ave. Turn right until it dead ends into SW Dash Point Road. Turn Left and it will take you to the park entrance on your right. Work your way down the long road to the water and be prepared to pay for parking in the large lot there.
