Wall

Description

This is a wall dive. A very steep and tall wall dive. The wall starts at about 30-35 feet deep and drops well below recreational depths. There are little shelves you can land on every 30-50 feet, but the wall is sheer. You may see schools of black and Yellow Tail rockfish plus coppers and Quillbacks. At 130-140 feet are some Boot Sponges. In the shallow water on the shelf are tube snouts, gobies, perch, and juvenile rockfish.

Special Restrictions:

This wall is super deep. Please use caution and dive within your skill and training limits.

How to get there:

Launch your dive kayak or boat from Goldstream Boathouse at the head of Saanich Inlet. Goldstream Boathouse is off of Hwy 1 just north of Goldstream Provincial Park. Paddle or motor north along the western shore for alittle over 1 nautical Mile. Christmas Point is the prominant point under the second set of powerlines with a large white and red checkerboard navigational marker. Anchor on the shelf on the north side of the point. Check your anchor when you decend, the shelf is not very wide.

Wow, we lucked out and had about 60 feet of vis on this dive. The wall is deep dark and spooky! Not alot of life on the wall itself, but beautifual structure and the sponges are fascinating. Lots of little life on the safety stop. A great dive!
