Channel Islands National Park
Aquatic Life: 0
Underwater Rocky Reef , Boulder Pile / Shelves
The base of the reef is found at 60’ and the top is 30’ below the surface. It is teaming with life, both fish and invertebrates which cover the rock structure which resembles an island rising up from the sandy bottom around it. It is a great companion dive to nearby Cat Rock.
There can be current occasionally. If so, the north side of the island may be less affected.
How to get there:
This site is located just under ½ mile east of Cat Rock on the south side of West Anacapa Island before you reach the narrow channel that separates West Anacapa from Middle Anacapa.
As with all dive sites at Anacapa Island, you will need a boat to access them. It is recommended that you select a local charter from Santa Barbara, Ventura, or other local charter that offers service to Anacapa Island. Anacapa Island is more protected from storms and thus tends to offer clearer, warmer water than the other islands in the northern Channel Islands, making it an ideal, and reliable, charter destination especially for visitors, less experienced divers and snorkelers.
