Artifacts Large Wreck, Junk Yard,
Brotchie Ledge marks the remaining debris of a large wreck from the late 1800s called the San Pedro which is located about 30 (10m) to the north of the light and also an aquatic dumping ground to the South.
The San Pedro was a large ship (330 long and 40 wide) but all that remains is the bottom of the hull and debris strewn about. It is surrounded by thick kelp and houses large rockfish, lingcod, greenling, and Cabazon among others. The bottom of the wreck is about 30 deep at the main portion though some debris of the wreck can be found deeper if you follow the wreck to the east. The stern is about 70 deep.
The junkyard can be found to the south of the light in depths reaching about 70. This was once a garbage dump for Victoria thus many interesting artifacts can be seen lying about.
Currents tend to be moderate and unpredictable. Dive at slack when possible and with a live boat during larger exchanges. This site is a marine preserve. Removing artifacts or marine life from this site is prohibited.
How to get there:
Brotchie Ledge is marked by a light beacon located to the southeast of the Ogden Point Breakwater near Inner Harbor.
