Monterey Sea Lemon  (Doris montereyensis)

This species (sometimes referred to as a False Sea Lemon) can be distinguished from the similar Nobel Sea Lemon by its yellow gills (the Noble has white gills) and by the darker yellow bumps (tubercles) and some of them will be tipped with black. The amount of black tipped tubercles and their placement varies with each specimen. Their tubercles also tend to be more pointed than the Nobel's.

They can grow to 9" long and are found at depths ranging from intertidal to 250'.
