Lingcod  (Ophiodon elongatus)

Lingcod are native to the North American west coast from the Gulf of Alaska to Ensenada, Mexico. It has been observed up to a size of 152 cm and a weight of 59 kg, females growing larger than the males. It is often spotted in various shades of grey mixed with other colors and possesses the ability to change its color and pattern.

Spawning takes place between December-March and eggs hatch in March and April. The male Lingcod will aggressively defend its eggs.

The lingcod is a popular eating fish, and is thus prized by anglers and SPEAR fishermen.
