Black Eyed Goby  (Coryphopterus nicholsi)

A small drab goby that grows up to 6". It is identifiable by the fleshy crest on the head that runs to the dorsal, the black ridge on the dorsal fin, black pelvic fins and of course, the black eye. In breeding males, the pelvic fins will be jet black while in female they may be grey.

The male protects the eggs after spawning, usually in a nest he has cleaned out under a rock.
